When celebrated business and life coach Saul Serna wrote Just Bee, he had a much larger vision than providing children with a colorful book. His dream was to help parents and teachers coach each child to Just Bee the best person he or she can be. In order to reach his dream, Saul adapted the methods he uses, when coaching business professionals, into 12 simple but powerful lessons for children. In addition, all 12 lessons are presented in both English and Spanish, which teaches children to accept and appreciate diversity. When the Just Bee curriculum is incorporated into a 2nd grade classroom, the teacher receives a teacher’s guide which contains weekly lesson plans and resources for using the curriculum in subjects such as science, art, language, social studies, and even math. The 5th graders are taught to mentor the younger students in the life skills, which they have mastered through the Just Bee program, creating a culture of respect and appreciation in the elementary schools. This year is a milestone for the children in the Just Bee program. The original class of 2nd graders who were coached from the Just Bee curriculum are now 5th graders, mentoring their 2nd grade peers!
